This magnificent pure sculptural form is abstracted from the shape of a Maori fishhookor matau. It refers to the fabulous fishhook ofthe demigod Maui with which he fished up the North Island of New Zeland. It is a symbol of strength, determination, peace, prosperity, and good health. It is also said that it protects the wearer when traveling , especially over water.
